Truck and Transport Mechanic Full Time NEW
Portage Transport is seeking a Truck and Transport Mechanic to join our team of experienced technicians. Working closely with the Shop Lead, the successful candidate will complete diagnostics, service, and repairs on trucks and trailers to keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
– Independently perform diagnostics on transport trucks and trailers
– Repair and service equipment in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner
– Conduct routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, filters, fluid checks, lubrication)
– Complete accurate documentation on work orders
– Communicate repair findings and maintenance timelines with service and dispatch teams
– Maintain a clean and safe work environment
– Complete additional tasks assigned by the Shop Lead or management
Qualifications and Experience:
– 2 years of mechanical experience preferred
– Journeyman or Red Seal certification is an asset, but not required
– Safety Inspections and MOPEA certification are assets
– Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics
– Ability to interpret diagnostic results and perform accurate troubleshooting
– Proficient in performing preventive maintenance and complex mechanical repairs
– Strong time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
– Accurate and clear documentation of repairs, parts used, and service notes
– Valid driver’s license required
