Visible Minorities Reach One in Six Canadians
The number of visible minorities in Canada has topped the five million mark for the first time in Canada’s history, now representing 16.2 per cent of the country’s population. Canada’s visible minority population has grown steadily since visible minority data was first collected in 1981. Then, the estimated 1.1 million visible minorities represented 4.7 per cent of the population.
