Job Description:
Job Duties:
• Plan and direct food preparation and cooking activities
• Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions
• Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
• Estimate food requirements and may estimate food and labour costs
• Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks
• Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
• May prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions.
• Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
• May prepare and cook meals or specialty foods.
• Prepare and cook complete meals or specialty foods, such as pastries, sauces, soups, salads, vegetables and meat, poultry and fish dishes, and create decorative food displays for special events such as banquets
• Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
• Create new recipes
• Supervise cooks and other kitchen staff

Requirements:
• Education: Completion of Secondary School required. Cook’s trade certification or equivalent credentials in culinary arts required.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of culinary experience, preferably in a hotel or resort setting.
Working Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Attention to detail, occasionally overtime is required, Work under pressure on some occasions. Repetitive tasks, standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling.
Personal suitability: Team player, Effective interpersonal skills, Excellent oral communication, Flexibility, Dependability, Organized, Initiative, Leadership, Reliability
Language: English is required
Salary: $25 hourly, 30-44 Hours per week.
Benefits: Shared accommodation provided at a cost (utilities included). Transportation costs covered if a worker needs to relocate. Transportation provided between work locations. Uniforms are provided at a discounted rate.
Important Information: The position requires flexibility in the schedule. The employee will work a minimum of 30 hours per week, including day, evening, night, and weekend hours based on business needs. Overnight shifts would be the main shift.
