We are looking for one (1) experienced and skilled Sugar Boiler for our facility in Hamilton, Ontario. We are offering a full-time position (80.5 hours bi-weekly) and a salary of $30.00 per hour to every successful candidate.
The successful candidate will perform the following job duties:
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing on raw sugar, in-process materials, and refined sugar products to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
• Conduct microbiological, chemical, and physical analyses including moisture determination, sucrose content analysis, purity testing, color measurement, and contamination screening.
• Prepare samples, reagents, and testing solutions while maintaining strict adherence to laboratory protocols and hygiene standards.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and analytical equipment.
• Record, compile, and analyze experimental results, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the development and improvement of laboratory techniques and testing procedures.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining food safety systems, including HACCP and quality assurance procedures.
• Participate in field sampling activities when required.
• Monitor controlled environments such as growth chambers, greenhouses, or production facilities to ensure optimal biological conditions.
• Prepare technical reports, summaries, and documentation to support scientific findings and operational decisions.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations within laboratory and field settings.
• Collaborate with the research team and other technical staff to achieve project objectives.
Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in food science
• College Diploma in food processing
• Minimum 4 years experience in sugar engineering, sugar production and/or sugar quality assurance
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
