Rae and Company is a boutique law firm located in the west-end of downtown Calgary that focuses on providing legal services to Indigenous Nations in Canada. We are looking for a resourceful, detail-oriented person to join our small but powerful team as an paralegal.
We are looking for someone who:
Possesses at least three year’s experience working in Indigenous corporate and real estate law
Possesses first-rate verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills in English and French
Consistently demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy
Has the ability to work collaboratively in a team and also take the initiative to work independently with minimal instruction or supervision
Can work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines and can adapt priorities as needed to execute tasks in a timely manner
Is familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat and willing to learn other computer applications used for the firm’s files and other office systems
Will uphold confidentiality and professionalism
Holds a minimum of a three year degree in relevant subject, and a legal assistant diploma
JOB DESCRIPTION – PARALEGAL
Assist with the preparation and filing of legal documents with courts, tribunals, regulatory bodies, government agencies, and other relevant entities
Draft and format litigation documents in accordance with formatting standards
Review legal documents for proper grammar and formatting compliance
Compose correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, courts and other parties, including correspondence on behalf of supervising lawyers
Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, tribunals, regulatory bodies, government agencies, and other relevant entities
Perform court searches and other basic legal research
Managing and maintaining corporate minute books
Filing of annual returns and other relevant corporate documents,
Filing documents with Land Titles Office, managing mortgage documents, ordering RPRs and managing/composing all other documents required for real estate transactions

Assist with the preparation and filing of legal documents with courts, tribunals, regulatory bodies, government agencies, and other relevant entities

Compose correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, courts and other parties, including correspondence on behalf of supervising lawyers

Perform court searches and other basic legal research
Carry out other requested duties as assigned
Document and File Management
Organize and maintain files through digital and hardcopy filing and archiving emails
Photocopy, scan, and digitize documents and files
Enter and update case information, client details, and other relevant data into in- house database management systems
Look after bank deposits and other required duties
Fulfill other duties, as assigned, in the absence of others
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: permanent, full time

Diarizing the schedule
Look after bank deposits and other required errands
Fulfill other duties, as assigned, in the absence of others
