As a Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Team Lead, you are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the activities of its office and field operations pertaining to Quality Assurance/Control. In addition, you will be responsible for performing standardized quality control checks on our company products to ensure they meet the required legal and company standards for safety and quality. You may also be required to maintain calibrated test equipment, prepare test data, and identify areas for quality control improvement and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Work in conjunction with production and other management teams to maintain quality and food safety standards.
• Assign work to the QA/QC staff, monitor and guide when required. Provide training and mentorship to staff and co-op term students.
• Developing and maintaining company inspection reports.
• Collating test data and drafting quality reports.
• Identifying possible areas for improvement in quality control processes.
• Participate in microbiology testing by preparing swabbed samples for a variety of testing such as finished goods and air quality.
• Ensuring production is not hindered by quality testing procedures.
• Participate in the monitoring of special product designations such as Kosher, Organic, Non-GMO production.
• Inspecting goods or products according to quality and safety standards.
• Reporting quality anomalies to the supervisor.
• Ensuring test equipment is calibrated and working correctly.
• Participate in monitoring the Critical Control Points within the Production Lines and collaborate with the different departments if action is required.
• Prepare and circulate shift assignments as and when necessary.
• It may be required from time to time to attend meetings on behalf of the QA/QC manager as needed.
• Compiling and overseeing the maintenance of regulatory documentation databases or systems
• Coordinating efforts that are related to the preparation of regulatory documents or submissions
• Ensure QA product specification database is maintained with updated product specification data based on legal requirements and customer needs
• Review data on all new product development or reformulations to ensure compliance to legal designations
• Update stakeholders on regulatory changes within the food & beverage industry as they impact current packaging and product specifications
• Communicate impact of customer changes to marketing to ensure product is compliant
• Act as second level support to customer service for customer inquiries or complaints
• Review Ingredient list for all products to support company R&D initiatives and compliance to regulations and Kisko standards
• Assist with quality checks and monitoring of production lines and plant environment
• All other duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualification Required –
• Degree/Diploma in Chemistry, Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related field.
• Minimum 3 year of experience working as a QA technician with a food manufacturing, food-processing, pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing organization.
• Minimum of 1-year Regulatory Compliance experience within the food industry, working with allergens, nutritional tables, and formulations/ingredients.
• Experience with 3rd party audits, Kosher and organic processing will be an asset.
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of statistical process control, quality assurance techniques and tools and quality management principles in a food manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP, food allergens, pest control etc.
• Proven ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Strong organizational skill and time management.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt quickly to changing needs of the business schedule.
• Flexible schedule to meet the demands of the business, as required.
• Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Platform (i.e., Word, Excel, and Power point).
• Global Food Labelling Certification, BRC (version #9), PCQI and HACCP are certifications are required.
Position details:
