Position Details:
• Position title: Pork Production Technician
• Vacancies: 1
• Status: Full-time, permanent
• Compensation: $20.65 per hour, 40-45 hours per week
• Benefits: Group health benefits including dental plan and health care plan
• Shifts: Early mornings, days, weekends, overtime available

• Anticipated start date: as soon as possible
• Location of work: in person at 83695 Scott Line Blyth, ON N0M 1H0
Responsibilities:
• Working in all areas of the hog barn
• Ensure proper handling of stock
• Carry out Company’s program to ensure production targets are met
• Carry out feeding routine for sows, boars and hogs and perform routine service on feed equipment
• Provide water for animals and perform routine maintenance on water drinkers
• Interpret labels, handle, and administer medications and vaccines as directed
• Shipping and receiving of animals, farm supplies and feeds
• Monitor pig health, recognize signs of disorder and report concerns
• Ensure the Company’s biosecurity protocol and Animal Welfare Code of Practice is followed by all staff
• Operate a high-pressure washer and ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards for the Unit are met
• Follow safe manure management procedure when cleaning out manure pits
• Monitor and maintain proper ventilation and temperature using automated control system
• Ensure accurate records are kept and submitted in a timely fashion to head office
• Interact closely with barn manager and other team members
• Responsible to act safely in performing job duties at all times
• Reporting safety concerns to the safety representative and/or Unit manager

Qualifications:
• Completion of College level diploma or certificate in Animal Husbandry or equivalent pork production experience
• At least two (2) years of previous animal husbandry experience required
• Experience with automated feeding and watering system, manure handling and storage, tractor, loader, and hand tools
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks, stand for extended periods, and handle moderate lifting of at least 50 pounds.
• Effective time management skills.
• Ability to solve problems with strong attention to detail for data collection.
• Ability to attend work on time each scheduled shift
