As a Live-in Caregiver, you will be taking care of a senior individual by providing care and companionship. You will be required to perform routine housekeeping duties, including preparing meals and assist in feeding clients.
Skills and Attributes
• Provide care and companionship for individuals and families during periods of incapacitation, convalescence or family disruption.
• Assist clients in all their needs and assume full responsibility for the household when owner is absent.
• Administer bedside and personal care to clients such as aid in ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing and undressing.
• Plan and prepare meals and special diets, including preparing therapeutic diets and menus, and feed or assist in feeding clients.
• Perform routine health-related duties such as changing non-sterile dressings, assisting in the administration of medications.
• Perform routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes and making beds.
Qualifications
• Completion of secondary school.
• Home management experience – 1 year to less than 2 years.
• College or other courses in home support required.
• First aid certification – preferred but not required.
• Completion of a training program in care of the elderly, care of persons with disabilities, convalescent care or in a related field required.
Additional Skills
• Ability to multitask calmly, being punctual and have good judgment and reliability.
• Willingness to accept direction on given assignments, working collaboratively with the patient and their family members.
• Cultural sensitivity and strong listening skills
What We Offer
We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll have 2 weeks of paid holidays (renumerated if not used during the employment period). In addition, our compensation package includes paid statutory holidays and overtime pay if performing more than 40 hours of work per week.
