RPL Projects Ltd. is an award winning landscape and urban design firm based in Vancouver. Established in 2015, our firm has become renowned in Canada for our multidisciplinary approach to design, which has earned us numerous accolades over the years.
RPL Projects is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Drafting Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical drafting abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a keen eye for translating design concepts into precise, high-quality construction documents.
Job Duties:
• Develop detailed technical drawings, plans, and construction documents, following industry standards and project specifications.
• Interpret conceptual designs and sketches from landscape architects and designers and translate them into precise CAD or BIM drawings.
• Produce layout and detailed drawings for construction of landscape elements (paving, lighting, planting beds, etc.)
• Revise and update drawings to reflect design changes, client feedback, or site conditions.
• Coordinate with project teams to ensure accuracy and consistency of drawings across different project phases.
• Assist with preparing presentation graphics, illustrative plans, sections, elevations, and 3D visuals as needed.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and firm quality standards.
• Maintain organized digital drawing files and drawing registers, ensuring version control and easy access for team members.
• Support quantity take-offs and cost estimation by providing accurate measurement data from drawings.
• Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions and gather data to support accurate documentation as required.
Qualifications:
• Completion of secondary school is required, college study in related field (e.g. design) is preferred.
• Previous related drafting experience is preferred.
• Proven proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lumion, LandFX, or similar).
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple files, drawing registers, and version control.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
