OVERALL DESCRIPTION:
The I.T./Data Support Technician is a full-time permanent administrative position. This position will be responsible for implementing computer related activities, technical support and resolution of I.T. related issues for individual users and departments. Position will require individuals to utilize technical knowledge to implement and support I.T. initiatives.
DUTIES
I.T./Data
1.1 Provides I.T. services with excellence and ensures service delivery conforms to Wabaseemoong Customary Care Code practices, manuals and standards, as well as the philosophy, policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols of WCWA;
1.2 Provide relevant, and competent I.T. services to all programs and administrative units of Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority.
1.3 Perform preventive maintenance on:
• Systems software
• Applications
• Hardware
• Networking
1.4 Assist in supporting helpdesk with support requests, including the collection and organization of data for support provided outside of the helpdesk system.
1.5 Provide in-person support and end-user training for employees requiring technical assistance in business systems, network and internet support.
1.6 Computer troubleshooting and coordination of hardware, software, and/or network solutions.
1.7 Support on-going maintenance and optimization of I.T. related hardware/software.
1.8 Analyze, Reproduce, diagnose and resolve technical problems encountered by users
1.9 Provides individual and/or group instruction and advice on identified difficulties
1.10 Provide technical guidance and/or training for all WCWA staff in new or updated technologies.
1.11 Assist in organizations I.T. projects as determined by manager and/or director.
1.12 As assigned, assist in development of implementation SharePoint strategies for organization
1.13 As assigned, assist in management of email user accounts, including but not limited to creation, deletion and troubleshooting.
1.14 Performs the installation, configuration and maintenance of computers, workstations and other related equipment and devices.
1.15 Maintains knowledge with respect to technology, equipment, applicable laws, regulations, standards and/or systems.
1.16 Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
1.17 May participate on technology projects with large scope and broad organizational impact.
1.18 Performs moderately advanced technological systems support, maintenance, and testing for proper upkeep of systems; may troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and network failures and conflicts.
1.19 Proactively work to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness
PROGRAM SUPPORT
2.1 Serve as a resource to the Manager, Director and/or Executive Director as required.
2.2 Participate willingly and constructively in the supervision process as required
2.3 Participate actively in the development of IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes.
2.4 Participate actively in team meetings by sharing ideas and concerns, providing input, and proposing meaningful changes.
2.5 Attend and Participate as a team in staff meetings, seminars, and training sessions as available; and
2.6 Participate in special projects as assigned by the Manager and/or Director of and Executive Director.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
3.1 Participate in trainings, seminars, workshops and courses as recommended/approved by the Manager, Director and Executive Director.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS
4.1 Promote Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority’s philosophy, goals, and objectives;
4.2 Communicate with the public in a professional and courteous manner;
4.3 Promote awareness through facilitation of I.T. workshops and encourage involvement and discussion to improve the quality of I.T. services
4.4 Review and make recommendations to the Director regarding I.T. policies and procedures to improve effectiveness in relation to community needs;
4.5 Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal/external resources, community service providers and other organizations;
4.6 Promote WCWA’s philosophy, goals, and objectives. Including conducting oneself in a professionally appropriate manner both when working and not working.
OTHER
5.1 Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Manager, Director and Executive Team
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Completion of up to one year of related or a comparable I.T. program. However, with a combination of skills, education and experience may be considered.
2. Knowledge of or willingness to receive training on the administrative structure and operations of Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority (WCWA), including the Customary Care Code, Manuals and Service Delivery Model, policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
3. Excellent working knowledge of a wide range of computer systems, software, security, applications, hardware, networking, databases and communications.
4. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise and best practices.
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively within the Wabaseemoong community.
6. Ability to establish and maintain purposeful relationships with staff, management, vendors, and other community service providers.
7. Ability to work productively with little or no supervision, and under stress of deadlines.
8. Be committed to always ensure and maintain the highest level of confidentiality;
9. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
10. Ability to flex daily work hours as necessary
11. Excellent planning, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
12. Ability to work with departments within Wabaseemoong Child Welfare Authority team.
13. Ability to follow direction, as well as work independently as needed.
14. Must possess a valid Ontario G Driver’s License and be willing to travel.
15. Must provide a clear Criminal/Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver’s Abstract; and
16. Ability to speak Ojibway is preferred and a definite asset.
