Coivic is currently looking for eight (8) Horticultural Technicians to join our team. This
posting is for existing vacancies.
This is a permanent, full-time, year-round position, based on 40 hours of work per week.
You will be working out of our headquarters located at 5465 Eighth Line, Milton, Ontario,
L9E 1A3. You will also be required to travel to customer sites across Southern Ontario.

Position
As a Horticultural Technician for Coivic, you will be responsible for planning, installing
and maintaining residential landscapes for our customers. Duties will include (but are
not limited to):
Constructing landscapes according to drawings or instructions.
Completing any required site preparations, including removal of existing features,
assisting with excavation, and site grading.
Assisting in the preparation and installation of fences, garden and retaining walls,
patios and other landscape structures.
Planning and implementing new garden designs from start to finish.
Maintaining existing gardens through routine weeding, edging, mulching,
deadheading, and debris removal.
Building planting beds, installing soil and mulch and spreading topsoil.
Planting flowers, grass, shrubs and trees, and laying sod as per design
specifications.
Watering and tending to plants, lawns and/or gardens.
Pruning shrubs and trees, removing all deadwood and encouraging healthy
growth.
Maintaining irrigation systems and water features such as ponds, streams and/or
waterfalls.
Identifying and monitoring signs of plant disease, nutrient deficiency, or pest
infestation, and report concerns to management.
Assessing health of lawns and making recommendations for improvement.
Following seasonal maintenance schedules and adapting duties based on plant
growth cycles and client needs.
Ensuring grounds are well maintained year-round, including performing snow
removal during winter months.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization of job sites, tools, and vehicles.
Ensuring all job site equipment is in good working order and is properly packed
into the work truck at the end of each job.
Adhering to all health and safety regulations and wearing proper personal
protective equipment.
Performing other duties to assist in the installation and maintenance of each of
property.
*only Horticultural Technicians with the appropriate licenses are permitted to apply
fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and/or pesticides as required.
Qualifications
We are looking for experienced Horticultural Technicians who meet the following
minimum requirements:
Successful completion of high school.
At least two (2) years of experience in the horticultural industry, working in
property maintenance, landscape installation or a related field.
Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques including pruning, planting,
and soil management.
Strong understanding of plant care, soil health, and pest management
Prior experience using hand and power tools for landscaping tasks
Able to cooperatively work on a team
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Attention to detail
Basic ability to communicate (listening and speaking) in English.
Physical stamina for manual labour with an ability to lift, crouch, kneel and bend
for long periods of time
Willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, during all seasons.
Able to follow safety protocols when handling tools and equipment
Compensation
We offer a generous compensation package, which includes:
Wage: $30.00 per hour, based on 40 hours of work per week (overtime is paid
after 44 hours per week).
Vacation: 10 days or 4% gross salary
Benefits: Extended medical and dental
Eligible for incremental salary increases in accordance with standard company
policies.
Roundtrip transportation costs paid for selected individuals who reside out of
province applicants
Private health care insurance coverage for out of province applicants (equal to
the Ontario provincial health insurance plan) until such a time that the applicant is
eligible for Ontario provincial health insurance
