Farm machine operator & labourer Full Time

There is one vacancy for this job for a full time position for 2 years in tree fruit farming. Start date for the position is May 1, 2026. The primary job site location is 3480 Fruitvale Way, Oliver, BC where staff accommodation is provided for a rental fee of $30/week. The secondary job site location is 3299 Fairview Road, Oliver, BC. If needed, transportation can be arranged to the secondary job site location. 70% of the job is as a general laborer – primary duties including harvesting, thinning & pruning using ladders when required. 30% of the job is operating farm equipment and machinery. Education and experience in the field is an asset but not a requirement. On-site training can be provided. Work must be completed at the physical location(s), there is no option to work remotely. The job duties include:
Applying fertilizers
Cleaning the crops
Clearing fields of wood and stones
Cutting agricultural crops
Dividing fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots
Dose water saturation, light and temperature as instructed for crop growth and development
Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to the size, shape, colour and
volume to fetch high price in market.
Guide growing shoots into optimal development positions
Hand harvesting vegetables
Mixing fertilizer
Pack fruits and vegetables
Pick row and orchard crops
Plant, cultivate and irrigate crops
Shear and shape trees and plants with knife
Sorting fruits and vegetables
Tying and secure plants
Training trees to produce more fruit of higher quality
Weeding

Fertilize and spray crops
Harvest crops
Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry
Examine product for quality and its readiness for the market
