College/CEGEP or equivalent experience
3 to 5 years experience
• Observe and assist daily productivity of staff adhering to protocols and procedures set by the company and report results to Management for follow-up.
• Monitor and enforce procedures to maintain animal health and welfare of boars, sows, piglets, and market hogs.
• Monitor proper feed, water and ventilation systems and procedures for animal well-being.
• Carry out breeding procedures through artificial insemination of appropriate sows.
• Oversee and carry out pen breeding and other livestock- related programs.
• Prepare rooms for disinfecting pens in barn location.
• Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
• Maintain swine performance records and works logs.
• Maintain quality control and production records.
• Recognize and treat animal health problems.
• Operate and maintain farm equipment.
• Keep barn in safe working conditions by completing, addressing, and reporting daily maintenance, health, safety, and wellness concerns to Management.
• Perform general farm duties.
• Duties vary slightly from site to site, keeping animal care a priority.
• Adhere to the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
