Coop Edgar is looking for a French-to-English reviser! The incumbent will primarily serve as a reviser but will also play a key role as a copywriter.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Translate and adapt a wide variety of content from French to English, including press releases, advertising campaigns, web pages, articles, newsletters, subtitles, etc.
• Revise, correct, and improve upon translated texts to ensure their linguistic and stylistic quality, while meeting client requirements
• Ensure consistency in terminology, style and tone across all communications produced
• Write and revise original content in English, including SEO-optimized digital content, ensuring its clarity, relevance and effectiveness.
• Explain complex concepts—particularly in the financial, economic, and corporate fields—in a way that’s accessible to a wide range of English-speaking audiences.
• Serve as a resource for colleagues and project managers on linguistic quality, terminology, style, and best practices in translation and writing.
• Help manage complex projects by recommending language-based solutions that are tailored to clients’ communication objectives.
• Actively participate in meetings with clients to understand their needs, make linguistic recommendations and ensure deliverables meet high quality standards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent command of French and English, with a proven ability to write, edit, and adapt high-quality content in English.
• Bachelor’s degree in translation; master’s degree, an asset.
• At least five years of experience in professional translation, revision, or copywriting.
• Excellent writing and stylistic skills in English.
• Proven experience in comparative revision, linguistic quality control, and adapting texts for a wide range of audiences.
• Proficiency with translation tools, particularly memoQ.
• Experience in digital writing, web content creation, and search engine optimization.
• Solid understanding of plain language writing principles and best practices in digital communication.
• Excellent ability to adapt tone, register, and style according to communication objectives, target audiences, and distribution platforms.
• Ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms, particularly in the financial sector.
• Highly skilled at consulting and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Ability to support, train, and mentor colleagues on best writing practices for complex projects.
• High level of rigour, attention to detail, and a keen sense of quality.
• Excellent organizational skills, autonomy, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
