Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operations to manage and oversee our busy gas station, which includes high-volume gasoline and diesel sales, a thriving convenience store, and a car wash facility. This role is essential to ensuring smooth daily operations, maximizing sales, optimizing customer satisfaction, and driving overall profitability. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a strong background in operations management, data analytics, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Oversight:
o Oversee the daily operations of the gas station, convenience store, and car wash to ensure efficient and seamless functioning.
o Monitor fuel inventory levels (gasoline and diesel) and coordinate with suppliers to maintain adequate stock to meet customer demand.
2. Sales and Revenue Management:
o Develop and implement strategies to maximize sales and profitability across all business areas.
o Utilize data analytics and Power BI to track sales performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to enhance revenue.
3. Team Leadership and Development:
o Lead, motivate, and manage a diverse team of managers and staff across all departments.
o Recruit, train, and develop employees to ensure high performance, alignment with company goals, and customer satisfaction.
4. Customer Service Excellence:
o Ensure a superior level of customer service is delivered consistently across all operations.
o Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly to maintain a positive and engaging customer experience.
5. Safety and Compliance:
o Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
o Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
6. Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
o Manage inventory levels for the convenience store and car wash supplies, ensuring product availability while minimizing waste.
o Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and secure favorable terms.
7. Financial Management:
o Prepare and manage budgets, track expenses, and analyze financial reports to ensure fiscal responsibility.
o Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to improve financial performance.
8. Analytics and Reporting:
o Utilize Power BI to analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), sales data, and operational metrics.
o Generate reports to track performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support strategic decision-making.
9. Technology and Systems Management:
o Ensure proficiency in the use of our Point of Sale (POS) software, Bulloch, and back-office system, PDI.
o Manage and optimize the use of these systems to improve efficiency, track inventory, and monitor sales performance.
10. Facility Maintenance:
o Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of all facilities, including the gas station, store, and car wash.
o Schedule regular maintenance and address repairs promptly to avoid operational disruptions.
11. Strategic Planning and Execution:
o Develop long-term operational strategies and implement initiatives to achieve growth and improve efficiency.
o Identify opportunities for expansion or diversification of services offered.
12. Community Engagement:
o Build and maintain relationships with the local community and stakeholders to enhance the station’s reputation and drive traffic.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the retail or service industry.
• Proficiency in data analytics tools, particularly Power BI, for performance management and sales tracking.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of POS software, particularly Bulloch, and back-office systems like PDI is essential.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial analysis.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The Director of Operations is a pivotal role that combines operational oversight with strategic planning, analytics, and team leadership to ensure the ongoing success and growth of the gas station.
Salary: 34.50 $/h to 36.50 $/h (depending on experience)
The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with Bulloch systems as a point-of-sale (POS) solution, PDI back-office software, and ‘R’ programming within Power BI to create customized sales and performance reports, along with advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables for data analysis and reporting.
