NM Freight Ltd. is seeking experienced Car Hauler Truck Drivers – Long Haul to transport automobiles using specialized car-carrier equipment on long-haul routes throughout Canada and cross-border routes between Canada and the United States.

Job Duties:
• Operate and drive tractor-trailers and specialized car-carrier equipment to transport automobiles on long-haul routes throughout Canada and between Canada and the United States.
• Load, position, secure and unload automobiles using specialized car-carrier/auto-transport equipment.
• Ensure transported vehicles are properly positioned and secured to prevent damage and comply with applicable safety requirements.
• Monitor the condition and security of transported vehicles throughout each trip.
• Plan trip logistics and obtain documentation required for domestic and cross-border automobile transportation.
• Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems, equipment and accessories, including tires, lights, signals and brakes.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Maintain electronic or manual logbooks and other required transportation records.
• Administer and maintain bills of lading, delivery documents, vehicle condition records and other required transportation documentation.
• Communicate with dispatchers, other drivers and customers regarding delivery schedules, vehicle status, delays and other transportation matters.
• Monitor the condition of trucks and specialized car-carrier equipment.
• Perform minor emergency roadside repairs when required.
• Report mechanical problems, delays, accidents and other transportation issues to dispatch.
• Comply with applicable transportation, Hours of Service, safety and company requirements for Canadian and cross-border operations.

Job Requirements:
• Valid Class 1 driver’s licence.
• Clean driving record and driver’s abstract.
• 7 months to less than 1 year of professional car-hauling/automobile transport experience.
• Experience loading, positioning, securing and unloading automobiles using specialized car-carrier equipment.
• Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers and specialized car-carrier/auto-transport equipment.
• Ability to perform minor emergency roadside repairs when required.
• Knowledge of Hours of Service requirements and applicable transportation and safety regulations.
• Ability to perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Ability to maintain driver logs, cargo records and required transportation documentation.
• Ability and availability to operate long-haul routes throughout Canada and cross-border routes between Canada and the United States.

Additional requirement: Candidates must be legally eligible to enter the United States for cross-border transportation duties and, where applicable, hold a valid U.S. B1/B2 visa.

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
Preferred Qualifications / Assets:
• Experience operating Volvo and Freightliner tractor units.
• Experience using electronic logging devices (ELDs) and on-board communication systems.
