JOB DESCRIPTION: Operations and Procurement Supervisor
Founded and headquartered in Toronto, Canada, our company began in 2007 when our founder became certified as a member of the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) and later as a Licensed Canadian Customs Broker by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Since then, we have grown organically, expanding our range of in-house logistics services to address the challenges of an increasingly complex global supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervisory, Supply Chain and Procurement Tasks: 70%
Logistics and Supply Chain Coordination:
• Oversee end-to-end logistics operations, including ocean shipping, warehousing, and inland transportation.
• Coordinate delivery schedules, ensuring timely order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
• Track and monitor shipment progress, proactively addressing potential delays or issues.
• Contribute to the overall review of the freight movement process, focusing on both LTL and FTL shipments, with the goal of reducing the total road miles traveled by pallets. This will maximize the efficiency of the over-the-road transportation network and minimize fossil fuel consumption.
Procurement and Vendor Management:
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure cost-effective contracts for goods and services.
• Ensure procurement activities align with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors and conduct performance evaluations.
• Support the overall greening of the procurement process by assisting in sourcing more eco-friendly solutions for all goods and services purchased.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of logistics and supply chain staff, assigning tasks and ensuring operational efficiency.
• Train team members on best practices, company policies, and safety standards.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare reports for management.
Operational Efficiency and Reporting:
• Analyze supply chain processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
• Generate detailed reports on procurement, shipment tracking, and inventory management.
• Ensure accurate documentation for all supply chain activities.
Strategic Planning, Leadership and Compliance: 30%
• Assist with developing and implementing long-term transportation strategies to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Identify emerging trends and technologies in logistics and recommend process enhancements.
• Act as the key point of contact between transportation providers, internal teams, and senior management.
• Help ensure all transportation and procurement activities comply with government regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Assist in developing and managing transportation budgets, ensuring cost control without compromising service quality.
• Assist with resources allocation effectively, including personnel, vehicles, and equipment, to meet operational demands.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics or related discipline
Graduate certificate in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement would be an asset.
5+ years of experience in integrated logistics operations, supply chain management, and vendor coordination.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with regulations.

Wage: $35/hr, full time, permanent position – 35 hours per week
Proposed Compensation:
Two (2) weeks vacation annually
