Overview
Heather Neufeld Law is seeking a legal assistant with basic immigration law knowledge to conduct office tasks. The candidate must have excellent oral English and basic oral French in order to read documents aloud to the supervising lawyer who is visually impaired. Likewise, the candidate must have basic familiarity with the functionality of Jaws screen-reading accessibility software used by the supervising lawyer and experience making documents accessible through OCR in Adobe Pro.

Responsibilities
– Tasks
• Scheduling meetings and filing correspondence.
• Filling out immigration forms.
• Reading documents aloud to visually impaired lawyer in both English and French that cannot be made accessible through OCR.
• Formatting, hyperlinking and bookmarking legal documents using Adobe Pro.
• Describing graphical elements of web sites that are not readable by visually impaired lawyer’s screen-reading accessibility software.
• Drafting correspondence to clients.
• Basic bookkeeping duties, such as tracking income and expenses, inputting data into case management software, and conducting monthly trust a account reconciliation.
