Old Vines Restaurant, at Quails’ Gate Winery, is seeking experienced cooks who enjoy learning new tasks while being committed to kitchen standards and delivering extraordinary service and food. Start Date: May 2025
Wage: $20 – $23 based on expereince
Schedule: Variable Schedule, days, nights, evenings, weekend and holidays
Key Responsibilites
Food Preparation/Line Setup
o Preparation of mise en place lists and ensure line is prepared for service
o Process incoming fruits and vegetables, make stocks and soups
o Communicate with the next shift person regarding mise en place.
Direct preparation of meals in hot & cold stations
o Presentation of dishes according to preset guidelines with the minimum of wastage possible.
o Deliver a consistently high-quality product in a timely and consistent manner
Kitchen organization and communication
o Daily Cleaning and inventory of walk in, storage and refrigerators for stock rotation and cleanliness
o Ensure all equipment in work area is properly cleaned after every use
o Receive deliveries and store in assigned areas according to proper food handling practices
o Report any equipment in need of repair to Chef immediately
Other Duties as Assigned
• Assist in cleaning dish area as required
Requirements:
• Working on/Completed a formal chef training program
• Food Safe Certificate
• 2+ years of cooking experience, preferably in a fine dining establishment
• The flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work under pressure in an efficient and safe manner
