We are a well-established global logistics company with capability to transport any type of cargo by Air, Sea or Road to different continents. The company is seeking an experienced and dynamic Transportation Logistics Supervisor to join our team.
As the Transportation Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to shipping, cargo management and material staging within our organization’s logistics and supply chain department. Your primary goal is to ensure the efficient, accurate, and timely movement of materials and products from our facilities to final delivery destinations.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Evaluate carriers’ performance, negotiate shipping rates, and establish strong relationships with freight companies to secure reliable transportation options.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures for safety and security, standards and regulations in force and participate in their improvement.
• Ensure smooth operation of computer systems, equipment and machinery and arrange for maintenance and repair work.
• Provide detailed information to internal and external clients and respond to same within a reasonable turnaround time as set by the company client service standards.
• Provide support and coordination of truck and export shipments and resolve various internal issues related to cargo delivery.
• Ensure prompt and accurate processing of orders, dispatching them for on-time delivery.
• Monitor and track shipments in real-time, providing timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Stay updated on shipping regulations, import/export laws, and customs requirements to ensure compliance.
• Address and resolve shipping issues, such as delays, damages, or lost shipments, in a timely and professional manner.
• Support and contribute to the design and implementation of information systems that align with transportation requirements and company safety standards.
• Resolve various problems and related complaints and implement corrective measures and process improvements.
• Conduct studies and analytical research on logistics and transportation projects, including reload studies, carrier rate analysis, transportation options and what-if scenarios.
• Maintain accurate records, including bills of lading, customs documentation, and shipping manifests, to meet audit and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies as needed to resolve compliance issues.
REQUIREMENTS:
• College, CEGEP or diploma in business, supply chain, production or manufacturing management or related programs
• Language – English
• Salary: $27.00 per hour
• 1 – 2 years experience in logistics and transportation
• Excellent administration skills with accurate attention to detail.
• Advanced skill in Microsoft Office including Excel & MS Word
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask, accustomed to working with minimal supervision, confident and conscientious.
• Ability to work with diverse client base with different cultural backgrounds.
• Experience in customs documentation preparation and good knowledge of both International and Cross Border import and export procedures
• Ability to handle materials efficiently and safely during shipping and receiving operations.
• Willingness to adhere rigorously to job-specific processes and safety policies.
• Proven experience in shipping, material staging, or logistics, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Good understanding of the transportation and logistics terrain in the African continent to support foreign transactions.
